The exciting world of baby furniture and cloth diapers!

Okay I know I just posted 2 days ago, but if I don't post soon the next one will be way too long! First of all, we have made our first "big" purchase which is our baby's crib! We got it on eBay for a decent price considering it is John Lewis (for you Americans, it's a really quality brand!). Anyways, we go pick it up on Saturday in Bristol which should be a fun day out!

ALSO....I have joined the "obsessed with cloth diapers club "- which I was convinced I would never join. Then again I also thought I would never breast feed and now I am pl anning on it! :)

Either way, I have found this AMAZING website called www.littlelamb.co.uk. It's a family-owned and run company so they sell their cloth diapers at HALF the price of other retailers. Also, they use all natural materials. I really want to try to Bamboo diapers and the microfibre ones. A distant cousin of mine who lives near me has also offered to sell me some of her cloth diapers which are pre-folds that she never used. I think I'm going to buy those off her but then get about 10 of these ones that I like- they are WAY too cute to pass up!! Although the idea of pre-folds is very intimidating to me...don't know why!!!

The other advantage to the little lamb site is that they have given me an account number and if I have any family or friends who want to help me pay for some diapers then they can just go on to the site, click "pay by installments" on the left, type in my account number and they can put money in my account! (My account number is 0011 ) SO if you feel so compelled to help out, it would be EXTREMELY appreciated .... we are already swamped in the cost of all this baby stuff. It's insane how expensive they make things just be cause they know you need them. Most of the stuff we will get will be second hand, which I don't mind but I do wish we could get some things new!

Well I think that's all for now! No complaints on the pregnancy front, I still have a cold though. Also this baby is a very hungry one because atleast once a week I wake up at 2am starving. It's getting a little ridiculous!

13 Weeks Today!

First of all, I have been sick for a WEEK now! My whole head has been just completely congested -- I can't breathe and I have a sore throat and a headache...it will not go away! I have pretty much been taking it easy for the last week but not much seems to help.

And, I'm 13 weeks today! As you can see we have a NEW fruit of the week: PEACH!
Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords... savor this, their non-functional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with a head now only one third the size of the body. Intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy. (Much more convenient.)

Yay! It's so cool to read about the developments that are taking place. My little one is now between 3-3 1/2 inches, is able to smile, grimace, frown, and squint! BUT, I'm still not even showing yet! In fact, when we went to the ultrasound, we found that I've LOST weight. It's not even like I've been sick or anything! It must just be the fact that I've been trying to eat healthier and no longer drink coffee! Well I hope I start to show soon...!

In fun news, I've started painting sheep on the baby's bedroom walls. They are SUPER cute. I'm going to upload photos later on. So far the room is verrryyy blue. The walls were already dark blue and now there are blue and white sheep... I figure, if it it's a girl then I will just paint some pink flowers on there and we'll be all set :) I'm sure she would get enough pink stuff to girly the room up a bit so I'm not too worried. I mean I'm a girl and I love blue and sheep. haha.

I think thats all for now -- 3 more weeks until my next midwife appointment. 7 weeks until I find out if my baby is a boy or girl!

12 weeks 3 days again!

Since we got back from the ultrasound, I feel like I haven't even had time to breathe! We have been so excited, finally telling everyone our news. SO many people are excited for us which makes it even more exciting for me because I feel like we have so much support. I already have people telling me which nights of the week they can babysit! haha.

Unfortunately I am now SICK. blah. I woke up this morning with a headache, stuffy nose, sore throat,...the works. Not fun. However, I am now excited because I want to make stuff for the baby's room. Adam and I are going to get a sewing machine so that I can quilt away! I took a quilting class in highschool and absolutely loved it, so I decided that I want to make a bumper for the crib and a matching quilt to go with it. I'm SO excited and I've found a children's fabric website...so I've already planned pretty much the whole thing! I admit that the colors I've chosen are a bit more boy-ey, but what can I say? My nana said it's a boy and she's never been wrong! If it is a girl, I don't mind because I'm a girl and I love blue! The theme at the moment is sheep...which is appropriate since we live in the agricultural heart of England!

I still can't really believe that this is all real. I have to say that my excitement/scared factor has gone up by about 100%. I can't wait to meet my little girl or boy. The ultrasound was so amazing, we got to see the heart fluttering, the arms and legs waving, the spine of the baby, and the little black hole that was the stomach! As I mentioned before he/she is currently measuring at 12 weeks 3 days, at just over 2 inches big.

The other day we chose these foam-wall stickers for the room, hence the beginning of the sheep theme. They are super cute and I couldn't resist...plus they were cheap! :)

I think that's all for now. No more appointments for a few weeks, I have a midwife appt at 16 weeks and then my next scan at 20 weeks. Too long to wait to see my baby again!!!

12 weeks today!!

Well, from what I have heard, today is the big "land mark." While I am excited about this, I still have my nerves reserved until I see my baby. Ugh, I cannot WAIT to just not feel anxious about it all. Once I see that it is really in there, life will be much better!!!

On a fun note, I found a cute website which says what size fruit your baby is at specific weeks. As of today, my little boy or girl is a Plum! Yay!

Cute right? haha.

In other exciting news...last night I slept the entire night without getting up to go to the bathroom. When the alarm went off this morning I was so confused! It was very exciting, haha! I also actually called the midwife today to get some reassurance about all the cramping I have been having but she was less than helpful. She basically said that sometimes it is normal and sometimes it is bad. She said I will have to wait until Monday to find out. Thanks a lot! Geesh. I have been reading some stuff on a pregnancy site I am part of and it seems that everyone seems to have cramping. Oh well. 3 more days until we find out.

Please be praying for Monday, I know that if you are not me then you think I am being silly -- but I have never been pregnant before, and I feel so strange being told there is a baby growing in me when I can't feel it!!! Just please pray that everything goes well and our baby is really in there, safe and sound.

I won't blog again until Monday...so keep an eye out.

11 weeks, 5 days, a bump?

I keep checking and hoping that I will soon have a little bump appear. Since I've never been pregnant before, I can't really tell what the "bump" is supposed to look like. Someone tell me! Is THIS a baby bump? I will be 12 weeks on Friday. :)

11 weeks 3 days!

One week from today is my ultrasound appointment! Oh, the agonizing wait. I have joined a parenting/pregnancy group that my sister-in-law Julie recommended to me, and that has been passing my time quite well as far as all my questions about being pregnant. I think the most difficult thing from the group though is the number of people who are all of a sudden leaving the group because something has gone wrong and their baby didn't make it. I just keep praying that I will not be in that minority.

I am (still) very excited and very nervous about the ultrasound -- I wish so badly that this week would FLY by. Fortunately I just started full-time college this week so my time is quite consumed with that.

On the food front, I felt a little better today although I slept horribly last night. I woke up about every hour to wee (this has only now become a symptom), and at 3am I was starving so I got up and ate a cereal bar. Needless to say it didn't satisfy the hunger so I felt asleep feeling tired and hungry. It was not fun.

I have been trying to drink all the water I can but have just read somewhere that this ridiculous amount of water that I am supposed to be drinking can actually be water, fruit juice, or milk...so I've been downing orange juice like it's my job. So much more satisfying than water.

So today I am 11 weeks 3 days, not really showing yet although I think I can see a little bump forming. It's hard to tell though when I am used to seeing myself every day.

That's all for now!
