25 weeks, 2 days!

Well needless to say life has been hectic! I have gone over 2 weeks without posting, although the only real thing that has changed has been my weight!! I have finally gotten the question at the supermarket: "would you like me to pack your bags for you?" Absolutely not. Until I am completely incapable of doing these things myself, I will do them!!!

Anyways I am not sure how much weight I've gained (mostly because I am scared of knowing...haha) but I'd guess around 17-20lbs. I feel huge. And I am not looking forward to being even more huge.

On the more exciting note, I LOVE feeling my little boy kicking around in there! Some days I feel it practically non-stop and other days I hardly even notice. The weird thing is when I can actually see him punching or kicking...so strange. Other times I can't see anything but I can feel him wiggling all around.

This week has been hectic, and the next couple months - and beyond - are going to be as well. I took my "life in the UK" test yesterday, we had to rent a car (ours has conveniently stopped working) and drive to Bristol, about an hour away to get to the test center. Fortunately the test was over relatively quickly, I passed, and we went for a drive. On Thursday my mom is arriving (YAY) but I have to get a bus to Heathrow to meet her. I am really looking forward to it, but it is a long bus ride!

We have had some complications getting the baby's room sorted out so hopefully we will be able to get a carpeter in before Thursday, though at this point it seems highly unlikely. Very frustrating.

Next big thing is the Sports Camp we are doing with an American sports ministry team called Uncharted Waters in June. This is going to take a lot of planning on my part and I am already stressed out about it - also in June I have to apply for my permament residency visa. There are just TOO many things to think about right now. Not to mention the fact that all this time I am trying to finish my degree.

Well, that's life at the moment. Baby is getting big, I've been tired a lot, and I can't wait to see my mom!! :)

The baby's development this week....

Your baby now weighs nearly 1 1/2 lbs and is about 14 inches long from crown to heel. He makes breathing movements but has no air in his lungs yet. At 26 weeks, fetal brain scans show response to touch. If you shine a light on your belly, your baby will turn his head, which means his optic nerve is working.

Viability!

23 weeks! This is a big milestone because up until now, if anything went wrong - sadly the hospital/doctors do nothing to intervene. Now is the time when the baby's life is "viable" which is pretty crazy to think about!

Not too much to update really, except all the exciting things to talk about with my little boy kicking ALL the time. I can feel every day he kicks harder and harder! This morning in church he was making me laugh, he was kicking so hard I could see my tummy moving! It really is the strangest but most amazing thing I have ever experienced. I have also noticed his little pattern of waking me up in the morning, and starting to move a lot just before I go to sleep. I anticipate this continuing for the next 5 years. haha.

In life-news .... I have been doing a LOT of cooking lately. It has definitely come to the point where it classifies as a "hobby." I am addicted to allrecipes.com, and have been experimenting a lot lately which has been fun. Other than that life has been continuing as normal. This week Adam and I have taken Monday-Thursday off work so hopefully this will give us time to just relax and get some stuff done around the house, since my mom is visiting in TWO weeks!!! She has officially bought her ticket and will arrive in London on April 29th! I am SOOO excited. It has been 3 years (other than my wedding, which I had no time with anyone) since anyone has visited me, so you can imagine the excitement I am feeling!

Baby Bradley is still the same fruit as last week, but here are the latest updates:

Week 23

Your baby is positively HUGE, a whopping 1.1 pound (or almost at least!). That is quite an accomplishment for someone that used to weigh less than one ounce. Your baby at 23 weeks is the size of a small baby doll you might purchase for a little girl.Your little one is now about 11 inches long!

Your Baby's Growth and Development
Your baby is still making remarkable changes at 23 weeks pregnant. Her skin is still quite red and heavily wrinkled. Your baby can hear loud noises in the womb from now and as you continue your pregnancy week by week, so don't be surprised if your baby seems to move around a bit when you are vacuuming or are in an environment where loud noises are quite common.

The bones located in your baby's middle ear are starting to form by pregnancy week 23, and your baby is continuing to fill out and look more and more proportional.

If your baby were born this week, there is a small chance your baby would survive outside the womb, however it is best that your baby stay put! Many women start to wonder what might happen if their baby is born prematurely. A baby born between 23 and 24 weeks would have a 10 to 70 percent chance of survival. It truly depends on a number of factors that have to be taken into consideration.

There are babies that are born at one pound that beat the odds and go on to live a fairly normal life, while others unfortunately die due to unexpected complications. The smallest babies may survive but grow up with some mental or motor disabilities as a result of their extreme prematurity.

Every day your baby stays in the womb increases their survival rate by approximately 3 percent during weeks 23 and 26.

Generally after 26 weeks the survival rate jumps to 80-90 percent.

Well thats all for now! I will probably add some photos or something later this week. When my mom comes, she is bringing with her the baby bedding I chose (I put a pic up a few weeks ago) and some baby clothes I ordered at OldNavy.com with a gift certificate I found from Christmas! Can't wait!!!!!

22 Weeks

Not too much to update on in the past 5 days! One thing I can say is that each day that passes, and the farther along I get, the more nervous I get because of how clueless I feel! We have our antenatal classes scheduled, we are going through the NCT (National Childbirth Trust) and our classes start in June. I am really looking forward to them because at the moment I just feel like I am very pregnant with no clue as far as what is coming. I know one of the important things is having a "birth plan," but even when I try to look through my pregnancy books which walk me through this I feel like half the stuff I don't even know about. I don't know -- I just can't wait for these classes! Plus Adam and I get to go to them together which will be nice!

Other than that,...well, baby hasn't been kicking as wildly in the last 5 days, I was a little nervous about it but I have my heartbeat monitor so I have been reassured that he's okay in there.

Unfortunately on the fruit of the week front we only have one fruit for the next 3 weeks (22-24 weeks)! Also I won't be putting the fruit photo up anymore since I got the thing on my side of my blogpage saying which fruit we are on :).

That's all for now - I've been cooking anbd baking like crazy lately, so I can't stop now! Must go make something chocolately. yum.
